Poetry on the menu, every day of the festival
Each day, several partner restaurants and bars in Trois-Rivières open their doors for public readings. At Four à bois, Sacristain, Café-bar Zénob, Manoir du spaghetti, Bistroquet, Temps d’une Pinte, Bette or Orélys, three to five poets read as you eat or enjoy a drink, leaving time in between to be filled by conversation at the table.
Whether you’re there for lunch, appetizers or dinner, the structure stays the same: listen and savour. The full calendar, published on September 2 this year, lets you choose your spot in the city according to your appetite for the day, whether that’s for a quiet coffee or a last nightcap.
A morning designed with families in mind
Saturday, October 10, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. the Gatien-Lapointe Library welcomes families for Chocolatine et poésie (Chocolatines and Poetry), a reading presented by poets from Soulières éditeur publishing house, including Guy Marchamps, Sylvie Poisson and Nadine Descheneaux, with juice as well as coffee for the adults.
The activity continues with the Bricole ton poème (Craft Your Poem), a workshop presented by poet-crafters Sylvie Poisson, Fabienne Gagnon and Nadine Descheneaux, during which kids will cut, paste and write to create their own poetic map, perhaps their first foray into poetry.
A festival highlight: an evening of 15 voices
Also on Saturday October 10, at 8 p.m., the Grande soirée de la poésie brings together 15 poets from Quebec and beyond in the Anaïs-Allard-Rousseau hall at the Maison de la culture community centre. This meeting of singular poetries and music is the program's finishing touch and final chorus, where words and instruments take turns captivating the audience.
