Centre d'histoire et d'archéologie de la Métabetchouane

The river mouth of the Métabetchouane river is an historical and archaeological national site of interest. The inauguration, in Desbiens, of the Centre d'Histoire et d'Archéologie de la Métabetchouane, in 1995, fulfilled the wish of Mgr. Victor Tremblay (1892-1979), founder of the Société historique du Saguenay, to make the site of the Poste de Traite de la Métabetchouan, both a high place of interpretation and a major tourist attraction.
